Daily Lectionary Readings for Year A
John 1:1-9 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. The Gospel of John begins with this announcement that in the beginning was the Word. God spoke creation into being. Christ is the Word through which comes life and the light of all people. In our homes or apartments, in our places where we are hunkering down to be safe and to protect our neighbors, the light of Christ shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it. Wherever you are, remember that the Word is with you and the Light surrounds you. May you be uplifted by this video that was shared with me this week. We are not alone. Tune in for worship Sunday at 10 am or anytime after on Facebook or on our website, www.wesleypark.org. Remember the church in your prayers and in your giving. Thank you for being faithful by watching over one another in love. Peace, Dean
